From science to practice
In the past few decades, major advances have been made in brain and cognition science. New research methods, ranging from state-of-the-art scanners to sophisticated digital processing, have enabled a true ‘brain revolution’. We now know much more about the structure and function of our brain and the mechanisms underlying our behaviour. Now is the time to put this knowledge into practice. The National Initiative Brain & Cognition will help to deepen this knowledge and channel it in a coherent way. It will generate investments and bring together professionals from various disciplines.
The National Initiative Brain & Cognition includes components such as the NWO programme Brain & Cognition: an integrated approach, the FES programme Brain &Cognition: Societal innovation in health care, education and security, and many others. The National Initiative Brain & Cognition further supports the development of new strategic or applied research programmes, either in a national or international setting. The main aim is collaboration between scientists in pioneering research, and cooperation with societal partners and business companies.
